project: NSX-R #3

The interior of the NSX-R compared to a standard NSX is where you will notice the most aesthetic differences.  Tamiya does not call out for many of the subtle differences in the NSX-R interior in their instruction manual.  Besides the red Recaro seats, the dash board with its' red stitch black suede interior is a distinct feature of the R.  I attempted to replicate this using Tamiya flat black paint applied with some what uneven brush strokes.  The red stitching was done with flat red and a fine point brush.  I then followed with another application of flat black using a #0 flat brush around the edges of the red paint to clean up any imperfections.

For the wheels, I preferred using racing white to replicate the Championship white paint finish found on real NSX-R's.  This simply required a coat of fine white primer over the original chrome styrene wheels followed up a healthy application of TS-7.  A few black dots applied on the lug nuts and application of the H decals on the center caps finished off the wheels.
