history: 1965 Honda F-1 RA272

Having owned 5 Honda's over the years, ranging from a Civic to an NSX, I decided to build a historic Honda vehicle as my first project.  I selected the 1965 RA272 F1 race car manufactured by Tamiya Japan.

The car found success at the 1965 Grand Prix of Mexico with American driver Richie Ginther achieving his one and only F-1 victory.  It was the first Japanese manufactured car (both chassis and engine) to win in the F-1 championship.

In the sea of Civics and Accords on the roads we see everyday, it's easy to forget that Honda is more than just economical passenger cars.  The company has found success at the highest level in both 2 wheel and 4 wheel racing disciplines.
