I started Scale Model Motoring as a place to log my experience and organize photos. I enjoy motorcycles and sports cars, so logically I find these type of kits rewarding to work on.
The first thing I learned is that the kit you choose should have meaning to you. If the kit has little meaning to you, where else is the motivation going to come from to finish it? Perhaps it represents pedigree of your weekend ride, a dream car / bike you aim to own in real life, or it simply represents pride in what you currently motor in. I find that a lot of the fun in scale modelling is in the motoring history of these vehicles, be it historic race wins, technological achievement, or functional beauty.
Second, this blog and the content of it is not unique. There are thousands of forum posts, websites, and blogs from people just like me doing the same thing. I hope that my contribution further adds to the wealth of information available to others who share the same interest and are looking for help, ideas, or just to admire the work.
Third, the nature of the work required to complete a kit can be frustrating. Unfortunately, let's just say patience is not one of my strong characteristics. So, I hope to improve that aspect of my personality as I continue work on my projects.
I might occasionally drop in some real life motoring experiences for the hell of it. Some days you just need the real thing...
